His gaze swept over her face with detachment. It wasn't a warm look, but it wasn't exactly cold either-it was tinged with a crisp chill. He walked away, leaving Eliza standing alone, watching him disappear, a swirl of complex emotions rising within her. This distant Casper

was all too familiar to her. For some reason, a wave of anxiety hit her.

Just as Dillon was about to leave, she suddenly called out, "Dillon, wait a sec."

"Ms. Valerie, is something the matter?" Dillon turned around, his eyes maintaining a polite distance.

"Is he... upset?" she hesitated, searching for the right words.

"Mr. Casper is fine," Dillon replied with a polite nod, his tone neutral.

Watching Dillon and Casper leave, Eliza felt a tightness in her chest. Had she offended Casper? His expression had been grim, and his look almost predatory. She was distracted all day.
