Chapter 514

Casper was really hoping to nudge Dillon up the corporate ladder a bit more. He had plans for Dillon to take charge of a branch of Welton International. But it was clear Dillon wasn't on the same page. "Made up your mind?" Casper asked.

Dillon nodded, "I've given it a lot of thought. Even if you hadn't mentioned Africa, I'd probably have moved on in a year or two."

"It's good you have your own plans. You're not a kid anymore. It's time to start your own venture, find a nice girl, settle down, and start a family."

He gave Dillon's shoulder a firm pat. There was a mix of reluctance, sadness, and worry in his gesture.

Dillon felt a sting in his eyes and forced a weak smile, "Don't worry, Mr. Casper. No matter where I end up, I won't let you down."

"I'm not worried."

"Alright."

Dillon headed back to Falconridge.

Casper lingered downstairs for a bit, then made his way upstairs, feeling a knot of anxiety in his chest. The door was slightly open, like it was waiting for him. Suddenly unsure, he wondered how to explain the bar incident to Eliza so she'd believe him.

"Maybe we should go out for a nice dinner tonight," he suggested, trying to plaster on a smile and act like everything was normal as he approached her.

Eliza glanced up from her phone, sarcasm in her voice, "Mr. Casper, didn't get your fill at the bar?"

"Drinks... they don't really fill you up." He mentally flipped through all the fancy restaurants he knew of in Oak Falls. "How about some Western food? I haven't tried that here yet."

Eliza's eyes drifted back to her phone, ignoring his suggestion.
