"If you don't want me to say things like that, you should stop doing the same." Layla grabbed his hand and stared into his eyes. "Live in the moment and don't overthink. So long as we are happy when we are alive, we shouldn't worry about what happens after our death."

Eric occasionally thought that he was not as liberated in his thinking as Layla was. He would regularly worry about everything and lead a life filled with struggles.

"I've thought things through, or I wouldn't have made the announcement on social media," he said calmly. "Marriage doesn't have to last forever, anyway. We can always get a divorce if you grow tired of me." Layla did not feel consoled at all, and if Eric was still not recovering, she would have slapped him across the face for saying such a thing on their first day of marriage.

"If you don't know the right thing to say, you should keep your mouth shut." She glared at him and lay down to use her phone. "After your public announcement, I've been receiving tons of messages." He covered her with a blanket and said, "What kind of messages?"

"They are mainly from former classmates and friends, asking me if we are really married and whether I can invite them to the wedding... Maybe they are your fans." Layla scanned all the messages but did not reply to any of them.

Since they had yet to confirm the date of their wedding, she could not make any promises.

"Don't reply to them if you don't want to," Eric said thoughtfully. "Your family prefers to keep a low profile, so we won't be inviting the press to our wedding."

"I don't see the point in inviting the press. I will get my parents to come up with a guest list and your parents can do the same. After that, we will just add the names of our friends to it. That should sum things up." Layla did not like to overcomplicate things, and it was mostly because of the environment she grew up in.

Her parents and brother have always been protective of her since she was a child, and people who grew up in such an environment tended to be more simplistic and innocent.

"You make it sound so simple."
