Chapter 134
At the Elmsworth Hospital, in the emergency room.
Acacia had been given a blood transfusion, but her life was still hanging by a thread.
Word was, when she was brought to the hospital, she was pale as a ghost, with a deep ga sh on her wrist that didn’t look good.
Out in the hallway, Acacia’s parents, along with Frederic and Glynnis, were all present.
Acacia’s mom, Una, was a wreck. Calling out her daughter’s name over and over, she had already burst into tears more than once.
“Enough, you’re not a spring chicken anymore. You can’t carry on crying like this. Otherwise, people will laugh at you!” Acacia’s dad, Mr. Stirling, said sternly.
“Laugh at me? My daughter’s life is hanging in the balance and all you care about is your dignity? Do you even have a conscience?” Una grabbed her husband by the collar. sobbing uncontrollably, “My son is already dead! All I have left is my daughter! If anything happens to Acacia, I don’t want to live either!”
Mr. Stirling’s face darkened in frustration. His daughter had harmed herself over a man, and his wife was making a scene.
He always felt inferior to Frederic, and now he didn’t know how to deal with the two women in his family. He felt humiliated in front of the Abernathy family, and in his anger, he pushed Una away.
“All you know is to make a scene! This is a hospital, not a fish market! Have you forgotten how to act like a chairman’s wife?”
“You pushed me?” Una sat on the ground, too shocked to even cry.
“Please stop fighting! The important thing now is whether Acacia can get through this. That’s more important than anything!” Glynnis quickly helped Una up, but was secretly sneering.
If it weren’t for her mom being investigated by the prosecutor’s office, and her dad insisting on her coming to help, she wouldn’t give a da mn about this girl’s life.
But since she was here, she had to put on a good show and hide her happiness.
“Mr. Frederic, my daughter is in this state. You owe us an explanation!”
Mr. Stirling, with nowhere to vent his anger, lashed out at Frederic, “My daughter has been entangled with your son for years. She has spent her best years with him! Now their engagement is the talk of the town, all of Elmsworth knows my daughter is Thaddeus’s fiancée. It was agreed that they would get married after Mr. Hamiltion’s birthday, but your son is dragging his feet on divorcing that woman. We’ve been patient for the sake of Mr. Hamiltion’s health. Now that Mr. Hamiltion’s birthday has pa**ed and your son is divorced, how can he back out now? Isn’t this driving my daughter to her death?”
Frederic was upset and gloomy, unsure of what to say.

“Although our family can’t compare with Ms. Evadne’s great family and business, we’re still from a respectable family, and we need our dignity! It’s outrageous how Thaddeus is treating Acacia!”
With Glynnis’s help, Una stood up, her eyes blazing with anger, “Mr. Frederic, we won’t let this go! If my daughter breaks off her relationship with Thaddeus, we’ll make it public! Your family will never have a moment of peace again!”
She knew Acacia had tried to kill herself to force Thaddeus to marry her.
Acacia and Thaddeus grew up together. As long as Thaddeus still had a shred of affection for Acacia, he wouldn’t just stand by!
Even if their marriage was affected in the end, she would try to get as much as she could from the Abernathy family. It was a risk-free investment!
Frederic sighed heavily, his face full of worry.
With the pressing issue of Elspeth, if rumors spread about the president betraying his fiancée and driving her to death, the reputation of the Abernathy family would be damaged, and the stock market would be shaken again.
Having reached this point, he couldn’t ignore Thaddeus’s wishes. He made a promise, “Mr. Stirling, rest a**ured, once Acacia wakes up, tell her that I’ve made the decision for Thaddeus. Her marriage to Thaddeus will not be affected by anyone or anything. Everything remains the same!”
Then the couple’s faces softened a little.
But thinking about the past, Una was still worried, feeling that Thaddeus’s position in the Abernathy Group was at its peak. Thaddeus was no longer the weak illegitimate child. Even if Frederic wanted to make decisions for them, Thaddeus might not go along with it.
Just then, footsteps echoed down the corridor.
Thaddeus, pale as a sheet, walked towards them with Gordon trailing behind.
“How’s Acacia?”
Before Frederic could answer, Una, with her swollen eyes, rushed over and grabbed Thaddeus by the collar.
“Thaddeus! What did my daughter do wrong? Look at what you’ve done! Are you trying to kill her so you can be with your ex-wife?”
*Mrs. Stirling! Please calm down!” Gordon hurriedly pulled Una away.
The commotion was too big. Despite the Abernathy group’s people maintaining order outside, there were still onlookers, watching curiously.
“Calm down? My daughter’s life is at stake. She’s cried her eyes out and bled dry for this traitor and now she’s at risk of losing her life! How do you expect me to calm down?”
Una pointed at Thaddeus’s pale face. “Thaddeus! If you’re not sincere about Acacia, why did you deceive her into marrying you? Marriage is a big deal. How could you keep changing your mind? My daughter is too kind. When you attempted suicide, you almost lost your life! It was my daughter who saved you. Acacia has been so good to you, how could you hurt her like this! Where’s your conscience?”
Thaddeus suddenly felt a headache.
His chest was stirred by the dark childhood memories, and he could hardly breathe.
It was as if he remembered the fragments of memories he tried hard to forget deep in his mind.
Evadne was forcibly taken to the hospital by Avery for emergency treatment on her wounds.
She didn’t let Jason come along, but asked him to stay and take care of Nydia so that her sister wouldn’t be scared by seeing her wounds.
Nydia was soft-hearted and easily frightened, crying all the way and blaming herself. Jason felt sorry for her.
Evadne absolutely couldn’t add any more psychological stress to her.

Luckily, she managed to dodge in time when she was injured, so the injuries were not serious and the wounds were not deep.
When they came out, Evadne’s arm was already bandaged and she had been given a tetanus shot.
The jacket she was wearing when they arrived was torn and could not be worn anymore.
Now she was just wearing a thin red dress, set off by a pretty face.
