Frederic got her a really slick lawyer, Cedric Dempsey. That guy is ruthless; he knows exactly how to exploit legal loopholes. My evidence fell short, so I had to let Elspeth go.”

“It’s alright, Arnold, you’ve done your best. And we hit our target, as long as we’ve got the Westguard project under our belt. Everything else, we can take it slow.”

Evadne was calm, but those around her were all fuming as they were itching to give Elspeth a good thrashing.
