The air was so still, you could hear a pin drop.

"Evadne."

Alexia heard the name as clear as day, and it sent alarm bells ringing in her mind.

Hadn't Sir said that drug would scramble a person's emotions, make them totally forget their old burning passion for Evadne, leave not a scrap of longing for their former lover?

So why on earth was he still saying her name?!

Thaddeus stared at his own reflection, standing there all alone in the mirror, and for a second he looked lost.

He'd always thought he didn't need anyone. He was his own man, end of story.

But for some inexplicable reason, the moment "Evadne" slipped out of his mouth, he felt this hollowness inside, this empty corner echoing with something he just couldn't ignore.

He didn't realize it yet-how you only hear echoes when something refuses to be forgotten.

Just then, as Thaddeus stood lost in thought, a pair of pale, elegant hands brushed over his broad shoulders and slid gently around his neck.
