Alexia knelt gracefully beside the coffee table, her movements deft and practiced as she performed the ritual of serving tea. With a cold laugh, she said, "Honestly, I've known Thaddeus since we were kids, and I've rarely seen him so down and out-so utterly defeated. I suppose today's a real eye-opener."

Chad's long, slender fingers lifted the steaming teacup. His voice was calm, almost indifferent.

"When Hans lost his memory in that plane crash years ago, I only gave him a single black pill to suppress his emotions. But my brother? He dared to swallow three at once. That kind of nerve is almost impressive."
