Chapter 9

Even on the other end of the line, Nolla sensed the chill coming from Elvis. She somehow became nervous. Subconsciously, she rose, her knees bumping against the table. Her tears came out of pain, yet she dared not to shout out loud.

“Glad to hear your voice, Mr. Grayson! Taking a deep breath, Nola tried to calm herself down.

“I’ve made up my mind about the thing you said.” Nola’s heart almost thumped out of her chest on hearing this. She wondered if she had misheard it. Would Elvis tell her that….

“Good! So what’s your decision?” Nola’s face was full of expectation, as if she had seen the moonlight in the dark night.

“It’ll take some time to make it clear. How about we talk face to face?”

“You mean now?” Taking a glance outside the window, Nola noticed that it was late. She wasn’t sure if the metro was still running at this hour.

“Or else!”

“Please tell me the address, Nola replied politely, totally unlike the girl who Elvis met. Leaning against the chair, Elvis enjoyed the night view of the city through the floor–to–ceiling window in his office. Under his slender fingers, it was Nola’s document that Damion had just sorted out.

“Where are you?”

Thinking for a moment. Nola told Elvis to meet at a bus stop near Linda’s house. She couldn’t tell Elvis that she was staying at her friend’s

After hanging up the phone, Nola was still in a daze. She looked at the flow of traffic and lights outside for a while before she came back to her senses. She grabbed a coat and walked out in a flurry.

A silver–gray McLaren stopped by her side. Nola was stunned for a second because the car was different from the one she had taken last time. Elvis lowered the window and glanced at Nola. Only then did Nola come back from her daze. She got into the car at the fastest speed under the amazed gaze of passersby.

Without saying anything. Elvis stepped on the accelerator and drove forward. Nola’s every pore strained. She was even more nervous than she felt when she met him for the first time. She sat straight and dared not to see him.
