With him by her side, Nola felt at ease. Although she didn’t know if it would change, she was content for now.
The days they spent together were not long. But Nola gradually found that she seemed to have gotten used to such a life. She even felt that it was a pleasure to help him tie his ties, although she could not make Elvis satisfied with her skills.
“Can I give a bad review?”
“No! My store refuses to return or exchange goods. It’s a lifetime deal! You should be happy that my skills are not good. It means that this is the first time I’ve ever done this for a man” Instead of feeling guilty about her poor skill in tying a tie, Nola was proud.
She wasn’t skilled because she had never used to do this kind of thing. Now she was learning. The fact that she had the skills she had now meant that she was smart.
Elvis pinched her nose affectionately. “I verified it myself a long time ago, but you have forgotten it.”
Nola looked at him and shoved him aside without mercy.
Nola was drunk at that time, so she spent the night with him. She thought that she had suffered a loss and Elvis had benefited a lot.
“Go to work! You’re the boss, don’t you get your pay docked for being late?”
“Behave at home! If you want to use the study, go in and don’t lie on the carpet.”
Nola nodded obediently and watched him leave. She stretched and looked back at her usual reading spot. She preferred her little corner to Elvis‘ all–sufficient study.
He trusted her, so he let her use his study. But she understood that the study was a very important place. It was better for her not to just go in there.
Finally, it was time for the recruiting exam at the end of the month. This opportunity was something she had fought hard for, and she couldn’t let Elvis laugh at her.
So, when Elvis returned home from a day of work, he would always see her holding the books she bought without ca looking at him. Elvis frowned, suddenly realizing a problem. Would Nola forget about him later when she had a job?
At dinner, he compulsorily snatched the book from her hand and only then was she willing to have a meal properly.
“It’s just an exam.”
“It’s just an exam for you, but it’s not the same for me. Tomorrow, I must get a good grade to live up to that letter of recommendation.”
She was pulling strings. Nola didn’t want to be seen as useless by her colleagues when she got into the company. It was because of that letter of recommendation that she had to work harder so that no one could blame her.
She worked very hard. When Elvis came back to the bedroom, he saw her asleep with the book in her hand.
Seeing that she was sleeping soundly, Elvis carefully took away the book from her hand and made her lie flat to sleep comfortably. Elvis sighed helplessly, her serious little appearance was more and more attractive.
With a gentle smile, he kissed her softly on the side of her face.
She didn’t need to try so hard after she married him.
