The banquet went well. Although Nola had almost offended Mrs. Hadley, she managed to solve the problem with her quick wit and was recognized by everyone. In the end, Tanya was the only one who was upset.

It had never occurred to Tanya that she might not be of Nola’s rank. She always thought it was a matter of chance or luck.

After the lavish banquet, Nola didn’t neglect her work at the company.

Word of what happened at the banquet spread quickly. When Nola came to work at the company, she noticed that everyone was looking at her with strange expressions in their eyes. Nola had gotten used to it because these people always liked to make a big deal out of a trifle. She waved to Elvis and headed for the design department. When she got to the door, she heard the discussion in the office.

The content of this discussion shocked her.

“Have you heard? Last night, Mr. Grayson brought a female companion to the annual banquet of the big shots in Rachy City.”

Another voice corrected her, “What companion? You know nothing about it. Let me tell you, this woman was not just a companion. Mr. Grayson personally brought someone to meet Mr. Hadley and introduced this woman as his wife.”
