Chapter 166
Chapter 166
“Hi Beau, bye Beau!” I called out as I ran past my brother. It was almost eight, meaning it was time to leave, and for the first time in a long time, I was up early. It was mainly due to Christian nagging me all morning and literally forcing me out of bed, but somehow I managed to do it.
“Hey? Don’t go that fast!” Beau stopped me and grabbed me by my wrist. “Where is Christian?” I asked him. Beau rolled his eyes at me. “So you’re really coming along to the warehouse.”
“Yes.” I shrugged. “We made a bet, and I won, so yes, if you’ll be so nice to get out of my way.”
“Christian is upstairs,” Beau spoke with a suspicious look on his face. “Upstairs?” I questioned. “Yes, he’ll come down soon-so you can just wait here.”
“Okay?” I frowned. “But I can also get him. That’s not a problem.” I insisted, but Beau let out a nervous laugh and was determined not to let me go upstairs. “What’s funny?” I asked, confused.
“He’s upstairs with….”
“Gina?” I rolled my eyes. There was no need to check up on her if he already checked up on her yesterday. What the hell was Christian doing?”Yes,” Beau gulped. “And I was just about to check up on Enzo.”
“I’ll join you!” I told him. After the little stunt Christian had pulled with the guards in front of the stairs, there was no way for me to visit the third floor, and I needed a good excuse. “It’s my future brother-in-law, and I want to make sure he’s okay, so I’ll join you.”
“Serena.” Beau sighed. “Please don’t do anything stupid, okay?”
“When do I ever do anything stupid?” I asked Beau as I followed him. The guards gave Beau a surprised frown when they noticed my presence, but Beau patted their shoulder and shrugged them off so I could get through.
“You always do something stupid, like that bet you guys had.” Beau shared his unwanted opinion. “Stop overreacting. Aren’t you happy we’re going to be working together?” I teased him, but he clearly wasn’t in the mood for any jokes. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve said my own brother had enough of me.
“What?” Beau asked, unimpressed. “Did you think I was going to jump in the air because we’re going to be together?”
“Yes?” I spoke. Those were my exact expectations, and I had not expected him to be this disappointed.
“No?” Beau frowned. “Listen, I thought you weren’t interested in this kind of stuff-don’t you want to stay home and take care of your daughter?”
“I am taking care of my daughter. She’s with Carmen. Are you calling me a bad mom?” I asked Beau. I knew he wouldn’t agree to this and wanted to protect me, but Fabio was dead, and Christian’s crazy uncle refused to show himself, so I did not know what I needed protection from. I did not know how me staying by the Christian side could put anyone in danger.
“No, I never said that.” Beau shook his head. “You know what, we should let it rest.”
I followed Beau through the hallway, but my eyes moved to the room I figured Gina was staying in. “Enzo’s here,” Beau spoke as he wrapped his hand around my wrist and pulled me towards the other door.
“I told you not to do anything stupid,” He scolded me and opened the door. Enzo turned around, shocked, with the only thing wrapped around his waist being a towel. It was nice to see he made himself at home.
Beau covered my eyes with his hands while my thoughts went to Christian, who was with Gina. What if the same situation would happen to him?
No, of course not.
I had to remind myself to keep it together. I was losing it, and there was no need for that. Christian said it himself. He learned from his mistakes and would never hurt me again.
“No clothes?” Beau chuckled. “I see you’re back to your old self.”
1 smacked Beau’s hand away from my eyes and took a look at Enzo. “Yes, usually people knock-but the two of you don’t. It must be an Alfonzo thing.” Enzo shrugged and accidentally dropped his towel.
