The sky looked like it had been split in half as rain kept pouring down. Raindrops fell, blurring the view from the eaves.

There weren't any paved roads in town-only dirt and mud paths. As the rain and soil mixed together, the dirt roads turned into patches of mud.

Each step taken on that muddy road would take a person's entire strength just to lift their foot from the sinking mud. Taking a step forward was even more difficult.

Mike had been caught in the rain as he went out to the town market that morning. He came back completely soaked, while his feet were covered in mud and filth.

He handed Melody the fresh beef and ribs he had bought, placed their umbrella under the eaves, and walked to the side of the house to change his shoes.

Melody placed the food in the kitchen and turned to Tessa. "Tessa, why don't you just stay at our place for a few more days? It's not safe for you to go out in such weather, and the roads are terrible."

Standing under the eaves, Tessa watched the pouring rain with a frown. "I just received a message informing me that my flight's been cancelled due to the weather."

"It's the rainy season now. Every year, the storm will pour for several days in our town at around this time," Melody explained.

Looking at the pouring rain, Tessa only felt worried.

Melody said comfortingly, "Don't worry about it. Although my place isn't a hotel or anything, we won't let you go hungry, and we'll ensure you'll always have a good night's sleep. Give me some time, and I'll make some honey-glazed spare ribs and sauté some beef for you."

"Thank you. I appreciate it," Tessa replied with a smile.

Melody chuckled. "Don't worry about it. I was worried I wouldn't be able to take good care of you during your time here."

...

The rain continued to pour, growing heavier each day. There were no signs that the rain was about to let up.

Soon, the nation's weather agency issued an alert for the storm.

It rained for three days straight.

On the third night, thunder rumbled, lightning flashed, and the wind howled as rain kept pouring down.
