The mention of his true name hit Timothy like a thunderbolt, freezing him in place.

It took him a long moment to recover, after which he forced a strained smile. “Mr. Clark, you’re joking, aren’t you? My name is Timothy. Lamont was a friend of mine, but he died years ago.”

“Is that right?” Lucas raised an eyebrow, his gaze dripping with mockery as he studied Lamont. “You’ve gotten quite comfortable living as Timothy, haven’t you? When you lie awake at night, do you ever spare a thought for the real Timothy, the man you let burn to death?”

Lucas’ words sent a shiver down Lamont’s spine, cold sweat prickling along his back.
