Tasha’s eyes widened, a spark of curiosity glinting in them. “What is it?” she asked.

Zaria’s gaze dropped briefly before meeting Tasha’s. “My father’s starting to piece together the memories he lost in that car crash,” she said, her tone heavy with unspoken worry.

Tasha’s face froze. “What?” Her voice cracked, betraying a flicker of alarm. “Zaria, who told you that?”

“My father’s psychologist,” Zaria replied. “My father has been battling headaches lately. He went for a check-up. His doctor—Dr. Brooks—thinks the memories might be surfacing. My father’s eager to dig into his past, so he has set up a hypnosis session to try and recall the lost memories.”

A shadow of unease crossed Zaria’s features. She exhaled, her fingers brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “What will he uncover? Will those memories unravel everything we’ve planned?”

Tasha said nothing, her silence louder than words. But her expression grew increasingly grave, and her face turned slightly pale.
