The heavy slam of the car door sent a jolt through my chest.

I glanced out the window as the black Bentley faded away down the road.

‘Edward was angry. He loved me but couldn’t have me. Who could blame him?‘ I thought to myself.

I pulled out my phone and called Aiden, telling him I’d come see him now.

Aiden said he’d agreed to go on a business trip to Gordezin and was heading to the airport. He told me this whole thing didn’t really get to him, and he’d just throw himself into work even more.

I knew Aiden might act a little childish sometimes, but deep down, he always knew what was right and what was wrong.

After hanging up, I went home, packed a few things, and headed straight to the airport.

I bought my ticket and had some time to kill before my flight, so I found a café, sat in a corner, and scrolled through my phone.

I was sipping my coffee, glancing at the clock–still more than an hour left. ‘Why does time crawl so slowly when you’re waiting?‘ I thought to myself, feeling every minute stretch on forever.

By the time I got back to Hachester, it was already pretty late. Figuring it’d be safer, I asked Jared to send someone to pick me up.

He just shot back a quick “Sure.” As I walked out with the crowd, I headed for the exit.
