Chapter 646

The man was yanked away so suddenly, Elodie barely registered the change.

Freed at last, she stood trembling, her wide eyes struggling to take in what had just happened.

The first thing she saw was Watts bursting into the room, security guards right behind him. The attacker was quickly subdued.

Watts hurried to her side and untied the rope from her wrists. "Are you alright? Did they hurt you anywhere?"

Elodie's heart was still pounding, her chest heaving as she tried to catch her breath. She hadn't expected Watts to be the one to save her.

"How did you know I'd been taken?" she managed, forcing herself to sound calm, though her wrists throbbed, her shoulders ached, and a pounding headache lingered from the chemical fumes.

Watts frowned, pulling off his jacket and wrapping it around her shoulders. "I ran into Mr. Sterling-he said you'd gone missing. I started searching straight away."

"But the bid? Aren't you supposed to be representing us?" Elodie's mind raced- Watts was their lead negotiator; he was supposed to be at the auction.

He only shook his head, gently tucking the jacket around her and offering a reassuring smile. "Doesn't matter. What's important is that you're safe. The contract can wait there'll be other opportunities."

A heavy silence settled on Elodie. Because she'd been kidnapped, VistaLink Technologies had lost the bid. And now Watts, who came to her rescue, had missed out as well.

She knew all too well what this contract meant. It was the most lucrative deal on the market-everyone was fighting for it. Losing it now was a devastating blow.
