Chapter 333 A Brat

Vananeru blushed, and her heart raced. She had never experienced something like that.

Jonathan was so outstanding, so much so that she found it hard to resist him.

Just then, he continued, “That day, I followed you all the way to someplace near your school. This is the picture I took.” He then pulled out his phone.

Sure enough, there was a picture of Vananeru in a dark red dress displayed on the screen.

When Vananeru saw how attractive and youthful she looked in the picture, she believed in Jonathan's words.

At the same time, she noticed the picture was retouched and edited. There was even a string of words at the side. Unfortunately for her, it was in Chanaean, so she did not understand what they meant.

Curious, Vananeru asked, “What's written there?”

Jonathan blushed and responded, “It's nothing.”

From his reaction, she instantly knew the words were something private and related to her. The more she thought about it, the more curious she got.

Regardless, there was nothing Vananeru could do when Jonathan refused to tell her. Instead, she said, “The picture's really pretty. Can you send it to me?”

Jonathan appeared troubled, but he still gave in when he saw Vananeru's expectant gaze.

“All right. Give me your phone number. I'll send it to you,” he said.

Hearing that, Vananeru nodded.

After getting her phone number, Jonathan sent her the picture.

“How did you find this place?” Vananeru asked casually.

Jonathan scratched the back of his head again, looking like a youthful yet immature young man. However, his bashfulness and juvenile demeanor were reserved only for the eyes of the person he loved.

Vananeru was amused deep down. At the same time, she found him approachable and easy to handle.

Jonathan answered, “I asked the students by showing them this picture. Actually, I've already gotten an answer the day before yesterday, but I never had the courage to approach you. Today, my father called me, telling me something happened back home. I have to go back as soon as possible, but I feared you'd not be at Mapleton University when I came back the next time. That's why I mustered my courage and came here.”

“Mapleton isn't far from Chanaea. You can just come here if you want to,” said Vananeru.

Jonathan's gaze darkened, and he sighed. “The reason my father wants me to go back is to make me marry a woman I don't love.”

The news stunned Vananeru. Puzzled, she asked, “Why? Why marry her if you don't love her?”

Turning around, Jonathan grabbed the railing and stared at the starry night sky. He then sighed softly and said, “We can't always do whatever we want in life. I come from a wealthy family and got to enjoy many privileges and luxuries that most people couldn't. So, it's time for me to do something for my family. At first, I was fine with it before meeting you. In fact, I never believed the existence of love in this world. It felt utterly meaningless in the face of money.”

Suddenly, Vananeru was at a loss for what Jonathan's true intention was. “So, why did you come looking for me?” she asked.

Pausing briefly, he answered, “Can we find somewhere quiet to talk?”

Vananeru hesitated for a moment, but she still agreed.

She had no fear if Jonathan was up to no good, for she had the protection of her father's primordial spirit. Even a skilled fighter wouldn't be able to harm her, not to mention Jonathan, who did not look like someone who knew martial arts.

Thus, Vananeru left the dorm with Jonathan.

Ginny, too, followed behind them. She explained, “Let's go together. I was going out, anyway.”

Naturally, Vananeru and Jonathan could not say no.

Jonathan spoke very little along the way. He appeared rather awkward.

“By the way, Ms. Vananeru,” he said suddenly.

Immediately, both Vananeru and Ginny looked at him. At that, he said, “I borrowed a Ferrari from a connection before coming here. The car isn't mine.”

Perplexed, Vananeru asked, “What does that have to do with me?”

“I was afraid you'd reject me, so I wanted to look more decent. I don't have any ill intentions toward you, really. I just wanted to put on a more proper appearance to raise my rate of success.”

Smiling faintly, Vananeru said, “It's all right.”

Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that.

University students walked past them on the school grounds, singing and chattering joyously wherever they went. Mapleton University seemed livelier and mesmerizing at night.

Soon, however, Jonathan lost his cool when all three of them arrived at the parking lot.

Of course, the Ferrari was not stolen. Rather, something happened to it.

The back of the car was hammered violently with a wrench and was so badly damaged that it was bent out of shape.

Jonathan had never been a good-tempered person. Thus, the sight before him instantly triggered his anger. However, he suppressed it instantly. He could not afford to blow his cover after all the acts he put on that day, so he needed to keep a rein on his anger.

Jonathan regained his composure right away. At the same time, he discovered another problem—the most crucial test he faced.

He could not be a pushover in front of Vananeru.

No woman would like a man who swallowed their anger when their car was smashed. Then again, being too violent was a no-no, either. It was an absolute test of wits.

While Jonathan was holding back his anger, Ginny was the first to exclaim, “Who on earth did this? How unethical!”

Vananeru, too, was dumbfounded.

As soon as Ginny finished her sentence, three youngsters approached from the other side.

The person in the lead was a rich young scion wearing a lavish white shirt who appeared to adopt a devil-may-care attitude.

Standing behind him were two tall boxing champion bodyguards who exuded a murderous aura.

Ginny paled the moment he saw the rich young man.

That was because that young man was a tyrant at Mapleton University, while his father was one of the directors. Moreover, the latter was involved in all kinds of illegal businesses.

There were even rumors of his father being a heartless murderer who had plenty of blood on his hands.

The brat's name was Pedor Elliott.

Everyone in the university feared him. Even the teachers would show subservience when they saw him.

That was why Ginny was shuddering with fear.

Pedor walked over and scanned Vananeru lecherously before fixing his gaze on Ginny.

Grinning, he said, “I was the one who smashed the car. Did you say I was unethical just now?”

Ginny's eyes were filled with fear. Though she was pretty, she came from a poor family.

Naturally, she would not dare to offend someone like Pedor.

“I'm sorry, Mr. Pedor. I didn't know it was you,” Ginny explained hastily.

Alas, Pedor said, “Did you think you can get away by just saying sorry? I've never been called an unethical person in my life. Well, if you sleep with me tonight, I'll let this slide. If not, I'll bring chaos to your family.”

Ginny was so frightened that her legs gave out. After all, Pedor did not say that just to scare her. He meant every word he said.

Never in Ginny's wildest dreams did she expect herself to be caught in such a mess.

Meanwhile, Vananeru frowned at what she heard.

Although Jonathan did not understand what Pedor was saying, it did not matter. He could tell the latter had said nothing kind.

Right then, Jonathan stepped forward and shielded Ginny behind him.

He spoke coldly to Pedor in Ustranasian. “If you have a problem, take it out on me. It's ungentlemanly to pick on a girl.”

That action of saving a damsel in distress brimmed with masculine boldness and was charming.
