The whole morning passed like this. The staff at the Courthouse had already got off work. Harper remained seated in the car, waiting patiently, until Curtis finally arrived. Curtis said, "Mrs. Martin, Mr. Martin has to stay in the hospital with Ms. Davis. I'll take you back."
