Summer Frost POV

‘I’m waiting for you outside’ Hunter’s text came in as soon as I was done getting dressed, and I sighed.

“I’ll join you shortly’ I replied to his text, picked up my handbag, and walked out of my room. Chloe already left to see Dad with the kids, and Miguel was Jaking care of something for me, so I was left all alone at home.

Hunter’s car was parked outside with him leaning against it while waiting for me. He was cladded in a pair of black velvet trousers, black button down shirt, and a pair of black boots to compliment the dress. I must confess that he looked handsome as always.

“Shall we?” He opened the car door for me as soon as I arrived outside the gate, and I hopped inside. He closed the door behind me, walked over to the other side of the car, and hopped inside. The ride to the dinner party began.

“You look gorgeous,” He glanced at me with a faint smile on his face.

“Hmm… Thank you,” I replied to him briefly and proceeded to stare out through the window.

‘I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. I should’ve been there for you” I breathed out as Lisa’s words replayed in my head. Lisa was the only friend I had back then, and the only family of Xander who approved of our relationship and was there for me all the time I ever needed her. I was very sure that Xander wouldn’t have done that if she was here years ago. She would never have allowed that to happen under her watch because she would protect me the same way she would always do whenever her family tried to bully me.

“We are here,” Hunter’s voice disrupted my thoughts, and I realized we were parked at the parking lot of an unfamiliar villa. He was holding the door open for me with his hand stretched forward, waiting to help me out of the car.

“Hmm… Thank you,” He held my hand and guided me gently out of the car. I wasn’t so surprised when I saw the many expensive cars parked at the parking lot. The party was hosted by an influential family, so I couldn’t have expected less.
