CHAPTER 64 JESS

I couldn't help but smile as I looked at my reflection in the mirror. My birthday, a girls' night out in the city, and the end of senior year-this was going to be epic. I'd made it. We made it.

I adjusted the thin straps of my dress and gave myself a little twirl. The dark blue fabric shimmered under the hotel room lights, and I felt a little naked, if I have to be honest. "I think some material went missing, like maybe the whole bottom half of the dress," I said skeptically.

"Jess, you look amazing. Stop overthinking it. We can't go to this club looking like middle-aged housewives!" Sam said, stepping back to admire her handiwork. "Have you seen reality TV-housewives dress sluttier than this." I groaned. Sam didn't care about showing skin; her red tube dress hugged all her curves and then some.

Laura, always the practical one, was still fussing with her dress. "I still can't believe we're doing this."

I rolled my eyes. "Laura, we talked about this. We're being responsible. The hotel is right next to the club, and we're not driving. We'll be fine."

Laura's phone buzzed for what felt like, the hundredth time. She picked it up, frowning. "Speaking of Josh, he's been texting non-stop." 17:49

Sam groaned dramatically. "Come on, Laura. It's your night, too. Let's just have fun. Josh will survive one night." She reached for Laura's phone, but Laura pulled it away, laughing.

"Oh no, you don't!" Laura protested, but Sam was quicker. She grabbed the phone, and Laura launched for it, almost tripping in her heels. This was a disaster waiting to happen. "Give it back!" Laura shrieked, but Sam just grinned, holding the phone out of reach.
