CHAPTER 90 JESS

Dim light invaded the darkness, swirling around me as I started to wake again. The first thing I noticed was a hazy figure looming above me, a face I recognized through the fog of my thoughts. Bryan.

His features blended in and out, shifting like shadows playing hide-and-seek. I tried to turn my head away, but my body felt heavy as if weighed down by invisible chains.

A dull throb pulsed at the back of my skull, making it hard to think straight. I think I hit my head...

At least my hands weren't tied anymore, and I could feel the rough blanket beneath my palms not that it helped. I couldn't move my left arm, and my right felt heavy and useless anyway.

I mustered all the strength I could find within me and used my good arm to push Bryan away from me as he draped his body over mine. It was useless. He was stronger and bigger, and I felt the tears roll down my cheeks.

"Get away from me," I managed to rasp, but the words barely escaped my lips before he responded with a chilling chuckle.

His hand traveled over my bare shoulders and up my neck, gripping me a little too tight, air barely making its way to my lungs. I could see the hint of pleasure in his eyes.
