Chapter 948: I Relented, My Daughter is Yours

At those words, Ruud raised his glass and clinked it with Jared's. "Kid, I admit you're exceptional. My daughter marrying you-it seems she'll find happiness. Don't hold it against me for trying to stop you two earlier. I found the love of my life late in life, only to learn I had a daughter. Even now, my emotions are all over the place."

Ruud downed the wine in one gulp. "I don't want to let her go. I wanted to keep her for a few more years. But this child-her heart is entirely with you."

He fixed Jared with a stern gaze. "Jared, I'm letting go now. My daughter is yours. But if you ever make her suffer, even a little, I won't let you off."

"Don't worry, Father," Jared replied firmly. "I'm not good with sweet words, but watch me. If I ever make Tina shed a single tear, you won't need to come after me-I'll come to you myself, ready to atone." Jared drained his glass in one swift motion. That wine was his promise-to Ruud and to Tina.

He understood Ruud, just as he understood the man he would one day become. If he and Tina had a daughter in the future, and she found a boyfriend, he would likely act even more protective than Ruud. Jared refilled their glasses. "Father, this drink is for you."

No more words were needed. Those three words carried everything he wanted to say.

Ruud, with nothing more to add, downed the wine Jared offered, solidifying their bond as in-laws. Jared finally sat back down.

During the meal, Boris stood up halfway through and said, "Dad, I've got something urgent to handle. I need to step out."

Warren's face darkened for a moment, but mindful of the occasion, he asked coldly, "Does it have to be now?"

"Yes," Boris responded without hesitation.

Warren opened his mouth to say more but eventually nodded. "Go."

Boris left in such a hurry that he didn't even bother to greet the Farrell family. Tina watched his retreating figure, her eyes flickering with thought.

The room fell silent for a moment before Logan broke the tension. "Tina, on such a special day, aren't you going to have a drink with Grandpa?"
