Chapter 987: The Treatment Standing outside the door, Tina spoke calmly, "How's your health?"

This place was not far from the lab and was one of her properties. Bringing Kevin here served two purposes. First, to better understand and neutralize the toxins in his body. Second, to keep him hidden from Orion Woodwind. If Orion discovered Kevin was nearby, he wouldn't hesitate for even a second to use forbidden techniques to take Kevin's life.

Kevin lowered his head and gave a bitter smile. "Miss Reed, you know my condition well. Treatment doesn't mean much to me. It would only waste your time."

Tina frowned. She had no patience for patients who gave up on themselves before she even tried.

Without a word, she walked to the desk, pulled out her silver needle kit, and placed it down without opening it. "I'm a doctor. Whether I can cure you or not is my concern, not yours. I'm in a hurry, so I'll give you one minute to decide."

"Of course," she continued, "I can't guarantee a complete cure. All I can do for now is keep you alive."

She fell silent after that, gazing at Kevin, who stood backlit by the doorway. Her calm yet commanding presence was undeniable, and Kevin felt the weight of it. A person's eyes never lie, and Kevin could see that Tina was genuinely trying to help him.

Thinking of Poppy waiting outside for him, Kevin realized he had been too pessimistic. He couldn't afford to give in to despair any longer.

Ten seconds passed before Kevin gave his answer. "Miss Reed, I'll accept your treatment." Tina nodded. "Come here."

After checking his pulse, Tina instructed Kevin to remove his shirt. She needed to use silver needles to seal the acupuncture points near his heart to prevent the toxins from invading it during an attack, which could otherwise cause sudden death.

As a doctor, Tina didn't see the act of removing his shirt as anything unusual. However, Kevin's torso was covered in scars, which made her frown slightly-not out of disgust, but because the scars would interfere with her needlework and slow her down.

Kevin misinterpreted her reaction and asked softly, "Did I scare you?"

Tina's face remained expressionless as she turned to retrieve the needles. "I don't like being interrupted while I'm working."

Kevin glanced at her in surprise but said nothing more.

The process of sealing the acupuncture points required patience. Tina stood up and went to wash her hands, noticing a few books on the windowsill. She casually flipped through a couple. Twenty minutes later, she removed the needles. Kevin's face was as pale as paper, and his body was drenched in cold sweat.
