Stella stood there for three long minutes, her legs growing numb. She then walked to the bed and turned on the lamp. As soon as Stella switched on the light, she noticed someone sitting on the sofa and immediately looked over.

Seeing RK, Stella realized that she could no longer hide the truth. She had wanted to keep it a secret for a few more days, but now she had to confront it. “When did you get here?”

Stella hadn’t spoken to anyone for a long time and felt as though her voice wasn’t her own. “Before you came in,” RK replied, leaning back on the sofa as he watched her closely. He was curious about how Stella would explain her situation to him.

“Well, it’s late. You should go back to your room,” Stella said, directly ordering him to leave.

“Shouldn’t you explain it to me?” RK asked, observing that Stella didn’t seem prepared to explain anything. Didn’t she realize he had been worried about her during this time?

“Remember to close the door when you leave,” she said, turning away and walking into the bathroom in her pajamas, locking the door behind her.

RK clenched his fists in disbelief. He couldn’t believe that Stella would treat him like this again, just as she had when she was recovering. He stood up and walked to the bathroom door, glancing at it. Finally, he relaxed his fists, sighed, and left Stella’s room.

Stella felt a wave of relief wash over her when she heard the sound of the door closing. She didn’t know how to face RK, so she could only retreat like this.
