Chapter 1096

Keegan stared at Whitney, utterly baffled, his face a canvas of confusion. "Your mom's back? What are you talking about, Whitney?"

Whitney's mind was a tangled mess, her thoughts stretched to the breaking point.

She couldn't even begin to explain to her uncle what she'd heard from Ludwik. Her eyes darted around her grandfather's grave, each glance reinforcing her suspicion. "Grandpa, Ludwik told me my mom might not be dead. He said Florence might have fled to Germinia to pretend to be me, just to meet her."

"How can your sister not be dead? I saw it happen, the car crash. I saw our father..." Keegan's eyes widened, disbelief etched on his features.

Whitney frowned. "But can you be absolutely sure there was a body? You only saw her clothes. The car exploded again, and you had to escape, right?"

Years of muddled memories, painful and fragmented, swirled in Keegan's mind, as if in black and white. He clutched his head, overwhelmed.

He snapped back to the present, questioning Whitney, "But why would your mom go to Germinia? Is Ludwik just making this up?"

"He's not making it up. This new tombstone is proof enough."
