Shane rushed back home, looking like he'd just jumped off a red-eye flight, with Sandy and Tina in tow.

Before Sandy could even catch her breath, he was already ushering her through the front door.

She heard his deep, serious opener and instinctively frowned, her heart pounding. She gave a gentle tug on his arm, trying to slow him down.

"Mr. Nelson, you can't just tell your parents that... it's not right."

She understood what he was getting at, but saying it out loud like that was just asking for misunderstandings.
