The door swung open. For a split second, his gaze crashed over Whitney like an ocean tide, deep and impossible to escape.

Whitney's palm trembled, beads of sweat prickling her skin. It was the dead of winter and her wedding dress was light as silk, but she felt feverishly warm, her heart thudding like it was on fire, heat racing through her veins.

"The groom's on his way in! All units, stand by! Don't let him find the wedding shoes! Bribes only! Candy or cash, people!" Tiana yelled, rallying the bridesmaids like a general before battle.

The groomsmen, clearly seasoned veterans, swept into the room like a squad of secret agents, searching every nook and cranny.

Parker was in charge of the bribes-scattering little envelopes stuffed with dollar bills. He looked sharp in a tailored black suit that showed off his long legs and lean frame. Tiana felt herself getting a little dizzy just watching him.
