Haley noticed Nancy didn’t take the tissue she offered and calmly retracted her hand. Once, she was Haley Owens, a young lady from a second–rate rich family. Even as the girlfriend of that old woman’s younger son, she had been on the receiving end of the older woman’s condescension.

Now, she stood proudly as the fiancée of the eldest son from the Janssen family, facing this old woman, and yet, Nancy still treated her with disdain.

Suppressing her anger, Haley flashed a slight smile. “Aunt, you really have a lot on your mind. I’m Quinlee, Nathan’s fiancée. Did you forget?”

Her sweet voice made Nancy frown. Taking a closer look, she recognized the woman in front of her as Quinlee.

But in her memory, Quinlee always wore traditional clothes and had a gentle, elegant aura–she never wore colored contact lenses. Seeing those deep sapphire eyes now felt oddly irritating.
