Stella's body jerked as if she'd been shocked. Her fork clattered onto the plate in front of her and I swear she got even paler than her natural undead hue should allow. Tiny and Mickey locked eyes across the table, communicating through facial expressions and little bobs of the head. But Enzo... his reaction was my favorite. His hazel eyes sparkled with dark heat and his lips turned up in an arrogant smile. If it weren't for the fact that his fingers suddenly white knuckled around the glass in his hand and the muscles in his neck began to pop and flex, then I might have believed he was as unaffected by my words as he pretended to be.

But I could see it. It was unmistakable. What I didn't expect him to do, was answer me. "Is that an invitation?" he asked, his eyes flicking downward and across the scooped neckline of my jumpsuit. "Because we can definitely try it your way next time."
