Chapter 3424 Reuben Kaiser's Wrath

Reuben Kaiser turned upon hearing Emil's voice. Seeing his nephew hobbling toward him, bruised and battered, Reuben frowned deeply.

Emil was his brother's only child, and since his brother's passing, Reuben had doted on him like his own. He never raised a hand or a harsh word to the boy. Yet, now, someone audaciously hurt his nephew-a blow he'd never tolerated. Reuben's face darkened as he asked in a low voice, "Who did this to you?"

Emil's face lit up, sensing his uncle's anger. "It was those thugs from the northern dock-and some smooth-talking pretty boy. They not only beat me but said you're just a worthless leech on the Island Watch! They protected that guy and mocked you right in front of me!" Emil's words dripped with venom, his face twisted with resentment. He vividly remembered how the towering man hoisted him up like a rag doll when he woke up and threatened to toss him to the sharks if he ever showed his face again. Terrified, he'd fled straight home. "Oh, they'll pay for this!" Reuben's face turned beyond grimly. Rough dockhands attacking his nephew was bad enough, but insulting him, a captain of the Island Watch, was beyond the pale.

A smoldering anger brewed inside Reuben. With a grim expression, he looked at Emil and spoke in a cold tone, "Don't worry, Emil. If a dockhand thinks he can insult the Island Watch and thinks he's safe hiding at the docks, he can think again. I'll bring this to the warden. You stay here."

With that, Reuben stormed out of the house, leaving Emil standing there with a triumphant grin. As his uncle disappeared from view, Emil chuckled to himself, "Think you can mess with me? Let's see how long you last now!"

At the Island Watch headquarters, Reuben returned with a stormy expression, attracting the attention of a few colleagues who were used to his rare displays of rage.
