Chapter 3560

After a full day and night of sailing, Matthew and the captain were drawing close to Bloodfin Bay.

"How far are we from the waters of Bloodfin Bay?" Matthew asked as he studied the map in his hands.

The captain compared the chart with the surrounding sea. "We're less than 12 miles out from entering Bloodfin Bay's territory."

Matthew nodded. "Anyplace nearby where we could disembark safely?"

A hesitant expression crossed the captain's face. "I'm afraid not, Mr. Larden. There are no other islands in this area."

As they spoke, a sudden blast erupted near the ship, sending violent waves crashing against the hull. A shell had exploded in the water nearby, rocking the vessel hard.

In the distance, a burning ship sped toward them, smoke billowing from its deck. Behind it, a warship was closing in fast, firing round after round of shells. The bomb that had just exploded near them came from that warship.

The captain's face stiffened as he watched the two vessels-the flaming one fleeing desperately, the warship giving relentless chase. He turned to Matthew, his voice low.
