Liberty didn't respond right away. She sipped her coffee calmly. After finishing half the cup, she set it down and looked at Kathryn, who met her gaze. They stared at each

other for a full two minutes before Liberty finally spoke, her tone light. "Don't rush. Let's deal with it after the New Year. My aunt hasn't made any decisions yet."

Kathryn also set down her coffee cup. "It still needs to be cleared out, and someone will have to clean it. Even if you don't move in right away, it's better for it to be empty and free of my mother's presence so it doesn't feel too strange to you."

The Farrell family mansion wasn't exactly private property; it was meant for the head of the family and their relatives to live in. But since the family leaders had always been from the same direct line, there was no need to move out when a new head took over.

So, even though the mansion wasn't technically private property, it had always functioned that way for the family leaders and their descendants. Outsiders, unless married in, weren't allowed to live there.
