Chapter 84: That's My Sister-in-Law, Right?

The man in sunglasses emerged, witnessed the scene, and folded his arms, clearly unwilling to intervene. Mr. Sterling, startled, pulled harder on Sophia.

Through the open door, Sophia saw a smoky, trashed room. A short, stout man knelt on the floor, his clothes dirty, torn, and stained with blood he was clearly being beaten.

Sophia looked at the men seated around the table, their faces obscured by smoke, some laughing, some talking, some drinking. A semblance of harmony, yet an underlying menace permeated the

air.

The man directly opposite the entrance leaned back, tapping his cigarette butt with his index finger. Someone leaned in to speak to him; he smirked slightly, shaking his head. "Honey..." Sophia whispered, stunned.

At the sound of her voice, the man looked up. His brow furrowed when he saw her. He stood and walked out.

Sean reached the doorway to see Sophia being dragged by Mr. Sterling. In two strides, he was beside her, pulling her into his arms and simultaneously kicking Mr. Sterling to the ground. Mr. Sterling rolled twice, his anger flaring. He pointed at Sean, about to yell, when the man int sunglasses grabbed his outstretched finger and snapped it.

"Aaah!" Mr. Sterling screamed in agony.

The others froze, then scrambled back in fear.

"Did he touch you?" Sean whispered to Sophia, his voice low and dangerous Sophia was still reeling from the shock, so she simply nodded.

Sean pulled her closer, then glanced at the man in sunglasses. The man immediately understood and proceeded to beat Mr. Sterling mercilessly. Sophia flinched. Sean turned her away from the scene.

"I... I'm okay. Stop hitting him, stop it!" she pleaded."Don't kill him!"

Sean kissed Sophia's forehead, trying to reassure her, and gestured for the man in sunglasses to

stop.

Once the man stopped, he uttered a single word, "Scram!" and the men scattered, fleeing the scene. in a panicked retreat.

Leaning against Sean, Sophia breathed a sigh of relief, then noticed the strong smell of cigarettes. and alcohol on him.
