Chapter 929

### Enhanced Text

Late at night, after Brielle had fallen asleep, Max slipped into the study.

Patrick was already there, waiting, holding a thick folder packed with everything they could dig up on Brielle. Her past, her whereabouts-anything that might give them a lead.

She had spent her early years in an orphanage until she was ten, then was taken in by the Haywoods. Her life after that was a blur of exams and school days, nothing out of the ordinary.

But she was never really free. There were always people watching-Mark from the orphanage and possibly others hiding in the shadows. They wanted to keep her life on a tight leash, making sure Brielle was like a bird trapped in a golden cage in Beaconsfield, never flying free.

She had spent almost her entire life in Beaconsfield, except for a stint abroad as an exchange student during college.

That year abroad came just after she turned eighteen, in her junior year. It was supposed to be just a year, but she stayed for fourteen months.

But the file in front of them was clearly missing pieces.

If Mark had been monitoring Brielle since she was young, erasing some of her tracks would have been a piece of cake.

So even with this report, Max couldn't be sure who might have taken Brielle for that surgery.

Max's eyes lingered on the timeline after Brielle had come of age. A surgery like that would have only been considered if there was a fear of pregnancy.

Brielle was reserved and aloof, not the type to get involved with anyone before reaching adulthood. So, it was clear that this procedure had been done after she turned eighteen.
