Brielle nodded and headed to the bedroom. The villa was just as she'd left it, a cozy sanctuary of familiarity. She treated herself to a soothing bath and then sprawled out on the bed.

It had been over a month since Max had gone, and while his presence had all but faded, Brielle still found comfort in the room. She clutched a pillow close, hoping Max would come back soon.
