Chapter 1100

Once Joseph left, King finally realized that Brielle was fuming. Despite being trapped in his own web of painful memories, he was determined to lift her spirits. He remembered Dustin mentioning that Brielle adored diamond rings-the bigger, the better. His past gifts had missed the mark, but this time, he was sure he'd nail it. He tiptoed into the bedroom where Brielle was still asleep, her eyes rimmed with red from exhaustion. Her fair skin contrasted beautifully with her dark hair, making her look even more endearing. King gently measured each of her fingers, noting the sizes on his phone before heading out to the mall-a rare trip for him unless it was to pick clothes for Isaac. King personally selected every piece of Isaac's wardrobe, trusting no one else with the task.

Now, on a mission to buy rings for Brielle, King felt a sweet thrill of anticipation. The sales clerk, unfazed by the masked man-this was, after all, a place where people's quirks were their own business-listened as King laid out his request: "Ten diamond rings, in these sizes."

The clerk's eyes sparkled. "How big would you like the diamonds to be?"

"The bigger, the better," King replied without hesitation.

Eagerly, the clerk brought out the top ten most expensive rings, each one sporting impressively large gems. King glanced over them, satisfied that they'd meet Dustin's "bigger is better" criteria. He paid and left, clutching the rings as the clerk watched with envy, wondering who the lucky recipient might be.

Brielle's room, King moved quietly, careful not to wake her. Her peaceful face was partly hidden by a cascade of hair. He laid out the rings, carefully fitting each one onto her fingers. Despite her fatigue, Brielle didn't stir. King hoped that when she woke, the sight of the rings would melt her anger. He settled
