Chapter 1149

Everyone envied Kenzo, no doubt about it, because to everyone it was clear: Ms. Irene treated every man like a fleeting amusement.

She was like a siren walking among mortals, or rather, a sorceress straight out of a Gothic tale, weaving spells that ensnared the heart. To tame her, one had to be colder, heartless, and more ruthless than she ever was.

Everyone around here was off their rocker, but none as wildly as her, which is why they all fell in line when she gave the word. But now, she was actually going to marry Kenzo. What deal had they struck, or had this heartless creature actually fallen for him? Curiosity buzzed in the air, but since the boss was getting hitched, they had to show respect, no matter what.

Someone even went to the effort of dragging Colton from another mansion to officiate the wedding. Given the ongoing turf wars, the ceremony was kept low-key. Irene slipped into a simple red dress, while Kenzo suited up. Colton, pushing 46, looked at the couple with a complexity in his gaze.

She really wasn't heeding any advice, actually going through with marrying this man. Mixed emotions swirled within him, yet to an outsider, it might look like a father struggling to let go of his daughter. With a resigned sigh, Colton handed Irene's hand to Kenzo. Kenzo's face was unreadable, as if he were anywhere but his own wedding. Even Colton seemed more emotionally invested than him. Irene offered a demure smile, her head modestly covered with a red silk scarf. Kenzo gently lifted the scarf, planting a soft kiss on her lips. Laughter filled the air as everyone settled down to clink glasses and share drinks.

Colton, now the center of attention, was coaxed into the seat of honor. Many good-looking men present had shared Irene's bed. Irene had that effect on people, rendering the table unusually quiet, an air of discomfort lingering. But Irene, ever so gracefully, looped her arm through Kenzo's, toasting to each guest. No one could guess what was on her mind. Nor could they fathom Kenzo's thoughts.

came to Colton, he didn't even look up, merely muttered a "Congratulations" before sitting back down, stiff as ever. The younger men, those smitten with Irene, could only drown their bitterness in drink. After several rounds, Irene led Kenzo to the rooftop. "Kenzo, aren't you mad I've slept with so many? Some of them are even here tonight," she teased. Kenzo responded only with a kiss, saying nothing. A flicker of hidden sadness passed through Irene's eyes, but she quickly smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "After tonight, I'll show you my true
