Chapter 1227

Irene sat quietly, her eyes glued to the TV, while the chaos outside continued to unfold. With Arthur's death, North America was in complete disarray, everyone desperate to find the killer. And that killer was right next to Irene. She picked up the remote and turned off the TV. Kenzo had kept his promise to her; Brielle could stay alive.

"Honey, she wants to leave. What do you think?" Irene asked.

Kenzo stayed silent, not saying a word. Inside, a voice was driving him crazy, telling him to keep Brielle here. If she stayed, she'd forget her past, and they could live peacefully on the island. But if she left, King would find her, and they'd reconcile. After all, they had a kid together.

Though Kenzo hated to admit it, he had already lost. His mistake was watching her from the shadows, going mad too late. If only he had thrown caution to the wind and been with her from the start, they wouldn't have her past as an exchange student.

Love was something you fought for, and he had given up the fight too soon, letting her slip through his fingers. Kenzo's eyes reddened as he looked back on his life, unsure of his purpose. His mind was always empty because his mother was captured by the organization, and his father devoted his life to it, even using his wife to threaten his son. Kenzo seemed destined for a tragic fate, unable to break free. He never even thought about breaking free.

If only he could have let go of everything earlier. If only he hadn't returned to the organization and continued his life in Beaconsfield as a celebrated screenwriter, none of this would have happened. But sadly, there are no "if onlys" in life.
