"Is that all you say every time you come?" Not really.

Every year, Selena would sit here for ages, chatting with her parents, pouring out all the emotions she'd kept bottled up inside. This time, though, she had plenty on her mind before she arrived, but suddenly, she didn't feel like saying any of it. Everything she wanted to say was about him.

He was tangled up in all her ups and downs. Three years into their marriage, her world had shrunk to just him. Everything revolved around him. Now, there wasn't any point in talking about it. Everett wouldn't be part of it for the rest of her life. Selena definitely wasn't about to tell him any of this. There was no need to give him more ammo for his jabs, "You seem to want control of everything!"
