Selena froze. The soft glow from the bedside lamp cast a warm light on his handsome face, making him look incredibly gentle right then. For a moment, she glimpsed the young man he used to be. Back then, he had taken her hand, his young palms dry and warm, and smiled so tenderly, "Thanks for saving me."

Unable to resist, Selena nestled into his arms, listening to his steady heartbeat, breathing in his familiar scent. It felt as if a calming hand had smoothed out the chaos in her heart.
