Before she could finish, he lifted a strand of her hair with his long fingers, his dark eyes locked onto hers, his voice dripping with a teasing undertone. "Are you still hurting?"

Caught off guard by his sudden question, Selena's cheeks flared with a mix of embarrassment and anger. He hadn't been gentle that day, demanding more than she was ready to give, and after being out of the game for so long, it had inevitably left her sore. Thankfully, the medicine he applied that night worked wonders, and a couple of days' rest did the trick.
