Alex initially had a soft spot for Yasmine. After all, years ago, she had saved Mr. Everett's life by donating blood anonymously, asking for nothing in return. Alex thought Yasmine must have a good heart.

Sure, Alex was often the one cleaning up these messes, which kept her connected with Mr. Everett. Then, Yasmine wanted to join the company, supposedly to learn the ropes as a secretary. But she never really worked, just soaked up the praise and attention, acting like she owned the place.

Looking Yasmine straight in the eye, Alex said, all business-like, "Yasmine, as of tomorrow, you don't need to come to the office anymore. Mrs. Everett doesn't want you around."

Yasmine wasn't having it. She believed Alex was just jealous of the attention Mr. Everett gave her and was using her power to settle personal scores. With tears in her eyes, she struggled to stand, saying bitterly, "You can't do this to me. Mr. Everett instructed you to meet all my needs. If he knew how you were treating me..."

Alex chuckled, a sarcastic edge to her smile. "First off, Mr. Everett is busy with Mrs. Everett now, so he doesn't have time for you. Plus, he's more than repaid your little act of kindness over the years. Second, don't think too highly of yourself. Even Margot, who crossed Mrs. Everett, was dealt with by Mr. Everett."
