Chapter 719

"Mr. Harris, if you've got another date waiting, you better head in. It's pretty rude to keep a lady hanging."

With that, Selena didn't give him another look. She swung open the door to the private room and strolled in with Rhett.

The door swung shut right in Everett's face, cutting off his view completely.

Through the shadowy screen, he could make out Rhett fawning over Selena- helping with her coat, holding her purse, pulling out her chair-and Selena taking it all in stride.

Everett's mood soured even more.

Joy eventually popped out, looking impatient. "Everett, why aren't you coming in?"

Snapping back to reality, he gave her a quick glance, masked his emotions, and walked into the room.

Seated across from him, Joy's eyes sparkled with affection. She had waited so long, poured so much effort into this moment, and finally, it had come.

She held out the menu, asking, "Everett, what do you feel like eating?"

Everett, clearly distracted, kept glancing toward the other side. "Whatever you pick."

Joy kept her smile steady. "Alright, I'll order your favorites."

After placing the order, she tried to strike up a conversation. "Everett, do you notice anything different about me today?"
