Even if Mateo didn't grasp everything, Everett believed that just being in that environment would help him soak it all up and grow quickly. Selena felt a twinge of guilt for her son, knowing this meant giving up parts of his childhood. But when she thought about Mateo possibly becoming as successful as Everett, it seemed like a worthwhile trade-off.
