Selena felt a bit stuck.

Everett wanted them to part ways for good, and he already had someone new. Honestly, she didn't want to keep bumping into him either; it just made moving on that much harder. Otherwise, she'd end up feeling blue every day.

So, she gently suggested to her son, "Mommy's got a lot on her plate today. How about Daddy picks you up? I'll come get you over the weekend, okay?"

Currently, Mateo stayed with Everett during school days and headed back to Maplewood for the weekends. Mateo wasn't thrilled about the arrangement and sulked in silence.
