"Wait, Josep's heading back to Country M?" Alaric blurted out, totally caught off guard. "Didn't he say he was sticking around for a bit longer?" Stellan just shrugged. "Beats me why he's bouncing so soon. Maybe there's some big deal going down at the Institute of Medical Pioneers."

Alaric felt a pang of guilt. Josep had saved his life, and now he was leaving, probably still ticked off about the whole Tommy mess.

He'd been planning to find a way to properly thank Josep, but now it seemed like time was running out.

"I'm coming with you," Alaric declared. Even if Josep didn't want to see him, he had to see him off out of respect and at least try to explain things at the airport.

"Sure thing," Stellan replied. "Cormac called earlier and said there's nothing pressing at the office today, so you can chill at home."

"Got it." Alaric's head was still throbbing, and he wasn't fully awake yet. Going to work now would be a disaster, so he decided to take it easy.

Stellan watched him finish his soup. Since Alaric wasn't feeling breakfast, Stellan suggested he take a nap.
