Chapter 91

I was still trying to figure out who was pranking me when more calls came in about rings and wedding arrangements.

It wasn’t until then that I realized this wasn’t some random joke. When I pressed for details, I found out the truth–and realized just how crazy Logan truly was.

It was all him.

Logan wasn’t the type to indulge in childish pranks, so I couldn’t help but suspect his actions had an ulterior motive. I called him immediately, my suspicions swirling.

“Logan, what are you trying to do? We’ve broken up. Why are you ordering wedding dresses and rings? Are you trying to disgust me?”

“Don’t think I’m that petty or childish,” Logan replied, his tone calm but firm. “Didn’t you think I didn’t care about you? Didn’t you doubt my love for you? Let’s get married right now. That should prove I only want to be with you, right?”

His words only deepened my disappointment.

“Logan,” I snapped, “do you think loving someone means forcing her into a wedding dress and putting a ring on her finger? Do you even know why I broke up with you?”

He paused for a moment before speaking, his tone indifferent. “Isn’t it just because of Selene?”

“Yes!” I admitted without hesitation. “So, how do you plan to deal with her?”

There was a long silence before he reluctantly replied, “I’ll cut ties with her and get her out of the company. Is that enough?”

His begrudging tone made my blood boil.

“And then what?” I mocked. “You’ll just hide her somewhere else, like a kept woman?”

Logan snapped, his voice rising. “Elaine, that’s enough! How can you be so unreasonable? I’ve told you before–Selene is pregnant and alone. She’s having a tough time. Can’t you feel a little sympathy for

her?”

His fierce tone made me pull the phone away from my ear, but I could still hear his angry growl.

“Elaine,” he continued, “you’re a woman too. What if it were you? What if my family hadn’t taken you in after your parents died? How desperate and helpless would you have been?”

“Taken in?” His words felt like a knife stabbing directly into my heart.
