Chapter 112

Logan stood at the door, his face devoid of any smile.

Ever since we broke up, every encounter between us seemed to ignite mutual anger. But this time, the situation was worse–here I was, playfully bantering with Ashton while Selene stood beside Logan,

Logan had once claimed to have cut ties with Selene, but clearly, his word was as reliable as the wind. I recovered from the shock quickly, averting my gaze. Some people were simply an eyesore, and the saying “Out of sight, out of mind” couldn’t have been more fitting.

Ashton ignored Logan entirely. He held my hand but didn’t try to take my phone again. Instead, he said in a casual yet affectionate tone, “If you’re set on taking pictures, I can promise you better ones another day.”

His words were suggestive, the kind that couples who had been together for a long time would exchange.

Logan took two menacing steps forward, his voice sharp as he shouted, “Elaine.”

He called my name as if he were a king summoning a subject, completely disregarding Selene, who stood stiffly beside him.

Without sparing him a glance, I said curtly, “I’m busy.”

And I truly was–I had to stay with Ashton while he received his IV drip.

The next moment, Logan reached out to grab me, trying to force me to listen to him.

But before his hand could make contact, Ashton intercepted him, gripping Logan’s wrist firmly.

Tension crackled in the air as the two men locked eyes, silently challenging each other.

I quickly realized that things couldn’t go on like this–not with Ashton still hooked up to an IV. Even though Ashton could easily overpower Logan, a fight would only disrupt his treatment.

Knowing I couldn’t step in without escalating the situation further, I turned my gaze to Selene, whose expression had darkened.

“Aren’t you going to do something?” I snapped at her.

Selene remained frozen in place, visibly uncomfortable. I glared at her sharply, and though I wasn’t sure how intimidating I looked, it was enough to make her shiver and react.

She scurried over to Logan, tugging on his arm. “Logan, I don’t feel well. We need to get my IV started,” she said meekly.

Her words caught my attention. Selene was here for an IV drip? That was rare for a pregnant woman, considering the potential risks to the baby.
