I had spent so much effort trying to orchestrate a ride in the car, and yet, in the end, my wish was granted so easily. However, obtaining the specific address I needed required a more detailed plan.

"Ben, can you pull over? I feel sick, and I think I need to vomit," I said, clutching my stomach and feigning discomfort as we passed a pharmacy.

"Sure, sure," Ben replied, immediately glancing at me through the rearview mirror, his face full of concern.

The car slowed to a stop. Ben quickly turned to check on me. "Elaine, are you okay? Should I take you to the hospital?"

"I think it's the coffee Ethan made," I said, using Ethan's name to amplify Ben's concern. "It upset my stomach. Could you get me some omeprazole? I might feel better after taking it."

Ben nodded, clearly worried. "Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital instead?"

I didn't respond, but Ben grasped the situation instantly. Over the years, he had learned my standing in

the Mercer family. Even though I was no longer with Logan, Ben wouldn't dare to take me lightly.
