Yet, despite plenty of other empty seats scattered throughout the café, Monica had chosen that isolated corner, as though she wanted to melt into the shadows and avoid being noticed.

Izzy walked over to Monica, who offered a tight smile and gestured toward the seat opposite her.

“I already ordered something for you,” Monica announced.

Izzy raised an eyebrow and called the nearby waiter.

“Cancel whatever she ordered,” she said firmly.

“Fine, throw it away,” Izzy replied coldly. “I’ll pay for it, and I’d like a fresh cup of coffee instead. Brewed, no sugar or milk.”
